Tell me about Shady Daze Shop! How did you get in to selling antiques and making lampshades?
I started being interested in home decor at a pretty young age because my mom and dad were big into thrifting. Our house was always filled with antique furniture, lace, & Persian rugs. They didn't have a lot of money so everything was second hand (I wouldn't have had it any other way). They used to make Victorian style lampshades in hope to one day open up a shop. Unfortunately that never happened. My dad passed away when I was 15 and soon after that I became very interested in antiques & my mom passed on the trade of making lampshades to me. It wasn't until about a year ago that I started my Etsy shop. The name "Shady Daze" is what my dad wanted to name his shop so in honor of him I chose that.
What's your favorite item that you've made so far?
My favorite thing I created would have to be my lampshade with the daisy detailed brass frame. I used a vintage table clothe for the fabric & fringe on the bottom.
What's your favorite way to practice self-care?
I practice self care by taking lots of bubble baths. Whenever I'm having a bad day that always makes me happy!
Best beauty advice?
Whatever makes you feel beautiful, do that! I usually go for more of a classic look, but any opportunity I can have fun with makeup & hair, I'm in!
What's your favorite thing about yourself?
Wow, that's a hard one! I guess my favorite thing about myself would be that I'm kind. There isn't enough of that in the world!
Do you have a favorite decade when it comes to beauty?
Favorite decade for beauty would be the 1960's! Exaggerated eye, light lips, & rosy cheeks. I love the hair styles as well! I originally cut bangs about 3 years ago after Brigitte Bardot & have loved them ever since.
How would you describe your beauty vibe?
Definitely classic. I rarely leave the house without winged eyeliner!
What's something most people don't know about you?
I've seen close to 200 bands live! It's hard to choose a favorite, but it would have to be Tame Impala.
