You're an internationally published model and makeup artist. What do you consider your first big break?
My first big break was being chosen for a cover for a well-known German women's magazine. I had no agency or model experience at the time. The magazine was casting for a new girl and I registered for fun during a free hour at University. To be honest, by the time they contacted me, some weeks after my registration, I had totally forgotten about it. However, I was invited to a second casting. My knees were shaking so badly. I did not have a clue what to do in front of the camera, but in the end I won. That was my first experience with photographers and makeup artists and I just loved it!
You definitely have an iconic vintage look. Do you have a favorite decade when it comes to beauty?
In general, I'm a fan of the last century. So many fantastic and iconic looks! Beauty-wise my favorites are the 1950's and 1960's. Most of my beauty icons are from these times. I think women looked absolutely fantastic and sexy.
What is the most important part of your beauty routine?
Washing my face. Honestly... I can be very lazy, but I wouldn't dare go to bed with makeup on my face. It's just wrong.
What is your favorite way to start the day?
Making (and eating!) a fresh fruit salad. It's a real booster and I haven't been sick the whole year!
What's something that most people don't know about you?
I'm a Ron Weasley collector. I already have a beautiful collection including his sweater, a 3D Ron head-shaped mug, plush toy Scabbers, and many more things! Needless to say, I'm a big Harry Potter fan.
What advice can you give to everyone reading when it comes to beauty and self-care?
Stop comparing yourself to others. There are always people who seem smarter, prettier, or simply better than you are. However, every person has had their own journey. That's why we're all different and special. Accepting this as a fact is a relief and makes life so much easier. Also, it's so much nicer to make friends rather than competing all the time! Stay positive and be kind.
What's your favorite thing about yourself?
I'm a chameleon. I love switching styles. I always tried to stay with one look and really make it "mine". There are some people who do this in perfection. You know like Dita von Teese for example. I find that admirable. I used to be really annoyed by my inconsistent styling. It happened more than once that I sold all of my clothing to get a new "style". Nowadays, I've accepted it and I actually starter to really like it. I think it's fun to switch styles - so why not doing it? Funny thing is, it always had to be a vintage/retro style. So somehow I do stay true to myself I guess.
